Wow time sure does fly by, I can't believe it's been 5 years since my dad passed away. My mom put together a little book for us kids after he passed away, it has his Eulogy and some great memories from lots of family members in it. I LOVE to get this book out and read about my dad although it does make me sad it also makes me happy to remember all the fun times. I'd like to share the last paragraph of my dads Eulogy (which my Uncle Dennis read at his funeral and did a fantastic job)

"During the past 6 1/2 months there has been a great deal of strain placed on them. Diane especially carried the bulk of the burden. Since the accident, she has held it all together, and did it without complaint. Heavenly Father nearly took him on several occasions, which made it especially difficult for everyone involved, but mostly on Diane. Each morning on her way to work, she had a telephone routine to report on what she had seen from her breakfast visit, letting family know how he was doing. It became a little frustrating at times because often the report was merely- "he's just the same"... and that went on for weeks and weeks before progress started showing ever so slightly. One important call went daily to Vern's sister Cheryl, who he affectionately called Corky. She lives in Utah, and came to help the family for several weeks after the accident. It was especially hard on her to be so far away, so Diane would leave messages on her cell phone each morning, so when she had a break at school, she could hear how things were going. On Tuesday this week, the day after Vern passed away, Cheryl called Diane instead and part of what she said was: "This time, I'm calling you to give the update on how Vern is doing. He had a wonderful night last night. He's been running and walking and visiting with so many loved ones, without any pain, and he was so happy to finally be out of that bed. He's already busy starting his newest mission , so don't worry, he's doing great,".... It was such a tender thought and just what Diane needed to hear. Vernon we know you are doing great - and we are all so pleased to know that you are no longer in pain, but you are able to be about your Father's business."

We sure do miss you dad, but also so happy that you were freed from that bed. I'm sad that he is not here to see Claire grow up but then again I think that's why it took her so long to come to our family... my dad needed his time with her up there. I love that she is able to spot him in any pictures we have around the house. Thank you dad for the Great legacy you left us with!! I love you!

I read dad's eulogy this morning too, and that same part stuck out to me as well.

We're lucky. I miss him so much, but we're lucky to have him as our dad, and to have each other.

I love you Mohanna!
