Woo Hoo we got our keys... BUT oh wait, ummmm...

Like my title, I didn't know how else to put it. It totally works for what happened to us...
Moving day is finally here! After a long stressful week, we were able to get into our house. We met our Realtor at the house and she was at the front door kneeling down (strange, but oh well maybe she was praying over the house) Anyways as I walked up to the front door, I noticed some water in the entry way and our Realtor turned and looked at us and said, "this was not supposed to happen like this" She had got to the house a few minutes before us and stepped inside to find water everywhere... in the tiled entry way and all through the carpet as you walked back to the kitchen. We have a half bath right off the entryway and she saw that it was leaking so she shut off the water supply there and was on the phone with the seller's listing agent immediately. They said they would have the on call team come right over and start getting this problem taken care of. At this point all we could do was laugh! We were just happy to have a place to put our stuff in, but now everything had to be put in the garage or upstairs.

Notice the shiny floors in the bathroom... oh wait that's all WATER!
Entryway
And the carpet , you can see the wet footprints
We went off to the storage unit to start loading the truck up and bring it back to our house. We came home to find this... Look at how wet that is!!
So someone came while were we gone and ripped out the padding and brought 3 huge fans in so it could start drying out Nice, this was going to be taken care of quick! (or so we thought)
We had to lay down rugs and blankets so we wouldn't trample mud throughout the house
Grandma Patti made Claire a sandwich, so she ate while we moved things in.
Claire enjoys having a place so she could color with her chalk.
And here's two pictures showing you what the water damage has done to our walls, you can see the waterline going up the wall
And here where the baseboard is pulling away from the wall. Oh and this is happening in 4 spots in our house.
We didn't move in our downstairs furniture for about 10 days! I was tired of sitting on concrete. We thought this was going to be taken care of quickly, HA! We are on DAY 32 and nothing has been fixed yet. The seller (a bank) says they are not taking responsibility for this and will not pay to have the damages fixed. It's a huge mess!

But we do love our house for the most part

September 2010

I can't really recall what all actually happened in September, but I do know we were supposed to close on our new house the 15th- that obviously didn't happen. And it worked in our favor as we go the house for a cheaper price because the appraisal came back lower.

9/17/10 Patti and Maria came to help us get settled in our new place- oh wait we weren't in our new place yet so we played, packed and ate out a lot (since my kitchen was now packed) Maria had a free nights stay at Sunset Station so she used it one night and we let Claire go swim. She was in the water for about 1 1/2 hours and only got out because she was freezing.

Jay and his mom
We took Claire to the carousel (again) It's cheap entertainment and Claire loves it.

9/23/10 Debbie and the girls came a few days later to help us unpack some new boxes in our house- oh wait, we still aren't in the house! So we played, and they got to go see their grandparents that live here
Cute girls in their blue shirts
9/24/10 My mom drove down to help with decorating the new house, oh wait- we STILL aren't in the house. So we did some packing, eating out, my mom sewed some things for the new place, and we went out to Bullhead to go see Dan's kids primary program. My mom also brought out the kids Christmas ornaments. We did sign papers this day (Friday) with hopes of being in our house by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Claire packed her own box and wrote her name on it... I did the A and R, she says those letters are too hard for her to do right now. She was so proud and wanted to know where that box was a t all times.
* 09/24/10 The house papers were supposed to be over-nighted to California. I even offered to drive the papers there myself. (the lady just laughed and said something like, "wow she really wants to get in that house huh?" ummm YES!)
We found out MONDAY afternoon that they had just went out! WHAT! There goes our chance of moving in the next day. We had movers scheduled for Tuesday (since all of our help had come and gone) which I had to cancel 3 times. So we had them come over at 2:00pm on Thursday afternoon in hopes of having the keys to the house by then. Fast forward... movers show up start loading the truck and we get a call saying; sorry your house hasn't funded yet you cannot get the keys today! WHAT!! Long story short, we had to take our stuff and drop it off at a storage unit and wait until the next day to see if we get our keys or not.
At this point we are kind of panicking and Jason's mom and Anthony drove to Vegas that night so they could be here the next morning to help move in. Jason's friend offered for us to stay the night at South Point, he had a free night that was expiring that day so it worked out great! We got up in the morning went and had breakfast at the M and waited and waited. We got the call at 1:57pm (deadline was 2:00pm/ 5:00pm eastern time) that we could come over and pick up the keys. (10/01/10)

- So sorry if this is not making sense, I was dreading having to blog about this because so much has happened, but I think I got the biggest points across. Stay tuned!

Random August

This picture just reminds me of a cross between
Kiss and the Naked Cowboy.

She really loves me- I know it!
We swam a lot in the Leishman's new pool
Claire finally got to go in the Luxor or big the Triangle
She showed me her wonderful art project on our CARPET!
(I'm still working on getting the rest of it out)
Yea she says she doesn't need to take a nap anymore- this was 6:00 one evening
Dog pile on mom time
P.S. Claire got a much needed haircut after seeing this picture

We are glad that we survived our first Vegas summer, Claire even asks me when is it going to be cold again?

Look at me, I'm 3!

Claire started a little class at the local rec center, it's like a pre-preschool class. So here she is on her first day of school. She wanted to wear red and let me put her hair in pigtails without a fight!

She likes her class a lot, especially since Miss Dana gave them all a sucker and got to learn about colors

Dumbo in the park

We finally made it over to see a free movie at the park, we watched Dumbo. Claire had never seen it before so it was nice. We brought our blankets, and grabbed subway for dinner. And Claire got to ride on the zebra before the show (since we already had a token from earlier when it got rained out)

Serendipity

We tried taking Claire on the carousel but of course we got there before it was opened, and it began to rain which was awesome! Claire tried catching the rain drops in her mouth and laughed the entire time.

That night we went to Caesars Palace to meet up with Christopher and Colleen at Serendipity's. And check out the poster that greeted us as we stepped off the elevator from the parking lot... Celine is returning (I already knew that) But she is coming back just in time for my 30th birthday... I know what I will be doing!

We had to get the famous frozen hot chocolate, wasn't quite what I was expecting but it was still a yummy treat!

Aunt Cheryl

The girls and I were on the road to Utah Friday morning, our family was gathering together at my aunt's hospital so my uncle could give us all updates and so we could all be together for a little Fourth of July celebration. I was a little hesitant about going because I was just in Utah, but after talking to Jason he told me to just go. I am so glad I did because as we were on our way to the gathering my aunt passed away. I loved that lady sooo much, it is still so unreal that she is gone. I decided rather than go home and come back up for the funeral later that week I was just staying in Utah and my brother in law, Matthew volunteered to pick up Jason in time for the viewing. (Jason's friend drove him to St. George and Matthew picked him up there) THANK YOU MATTHEW AND THOMAS!

It was a very sad but a great week at the same time. My sister and I were able to put together a quick video about my aunt's life, I learned some things I never knew, got to talk to old friends of hers and heard such fun stories about my awesome aunt

The viewing- July 8, 2010

These are my aunts two BFF's and partners in crime- Sandy and Lily! We love these ladies like they are in our family.
It was a great turn out, my aunt had touched so many lives as she was a teacher for 30 years! Her friends from school gathered lots of Cheryl's favorite things and used it in the viewing room
Funeral- July 9, 2010

A great tribute to my aunt, my two cousins spoke and some great songs were sung. I will have to scan in the program too. She we be buried in Star Valley. So the funeral home from WY was there to bring Cheryl on up to Star Valley.

My mom with all her grand kids.
Sariah is just a cutie!
We enjoyed a great little luncheon put on by the Relief Society before we got on the road to Star Valley. We realized this was the first time that all the Crook Great Grand kids were together (this was the best picture I found on my camera)

The Crook Grand kids minus Dan and Mike
My Uncle George and his family
Coming in to Star Valley has this great look out area so we had to stop, and as always it didn't disappoint.
Matthew rocking out!
Our favorite cabins were booked up so w e stayed at a new place where we most likely will never stay again, it was an adventure! But we did have a GREAT night being together as a family! We all walked over to the park had a little firework show and just chatted and let the kids play until almost midnight.
Burial- July 10, 2010

Shaylee and Claire, I'm glad they are good friends like Chrissy and I were!

The rest of the pictures can speak for themselves... loved this lady so much, sad to see her go but so glad she is free from her earthly pain. And maybe a little jealous that she gets to be with my dad... okay so a lot jealous!
