the CAKE

I love to bake so I decided to take on the challenge of making Sandie and Matthew's cake/ cupcakes. The cupcakes were the easiest part, Sandie is a chocolate fan and Matthew voted for funfetti, then Imade some buttercream frosting and they were done. I attempted fondant for the first time, I used the marshmellow fondant so it actually tastes good. It does make a big mess, so make sure you are prepared! I made a test cake weeks ago and it turned out fine, but with some added accessories from the cake store I was ready to make the actual cake. The first batch of fondant I made was a chocolate fondant and that didn't turn out so well, it was very crumbly so that went into the trash. The second batch was much easier, after I got to the right shade of green. Finished product, it was only meant to have 1 ribbon running around the middle but at the very end of me putting the fondant on, it tore on the side, and once it tears there really is no hope in saving it besides starting over again. So it ended up with 2 bands of ribbon.

that is beautiful. I did a cake for my sister-in-laws wedding and fondant is very hard to work with, but the thick ribbon is a great idea. next time :)
