Onions

I just have to mark this day in history as the first time I have ever purchased a white onion for my own use!! I hate onion, I hate the smell and I hate the taste. But it does offer a good flavor in dishes, so I finally caved when a recipe I was making called for onion. I usually use the dried onion or just leave it out all together. Any where we go out to eat I make sure there are No Cebollas! (that's onion in spanish, I used to use that word alot when I first learned in in Spanish class) FYI- I chopped this onion into the tiniest pieces you'll ever see and my soup came out just great!

Random January pics

On this day I had just finshed going through some of my gift bags, which Claire thought they were her purses so she went and grabbed her shopping cart and told me she was going shopping. She was having a nice conversation with Dora, it was really funny to listen to. I just love the smile! Claire loves playing "Wii game" still and she'll find the front cover to Wii Fit and try to copy the tree pose on the front cover
I don't know what pose this is called but she found it funny when I tried it one day, she has a good memory!
and here's Claire just having fun in a box

the KEYS

So today I was about to loose my mind... I lost Jason's keys, I can't even blame it on Claire because I did it! Quick story...

The 3 of us were running over to Macey's this afternoon, Jason took my keys to go start the car then he came and got Claire, I then grabbed Jason's keys so I could lock the house door. I then went and dumped some trash and walked back around to the car, got in the car and we drove to Macey's. We did our shopping, and was gone for 20 minutes (When we got back someone had parked in our spot- Very Annoying!) Went back inside the house with my keys, about an hour later Jason was ready to go to work and asked me where his keys were- he checked my purse and my jacket pocket, no luck. I then told him to check the car, nothing was there! I have no clue where the keys are!!! They have to be outside somewhere since I locked the door with them. I go back out side check the car again, re-trace my exact steps while checking in the snow too. Still nothing. Now I am thinking what if it went in the trash can (yuck) So Jason and I proceed to look in the big trash can and we see nothing. I called Macey's to see if someone turned them in- no luck! I then drove over to the Macey's parking lot thinking that they fell out of the car while we were getting out- no luck. At this time Jason is late for work, oh and did I mention his work keys are on the same key ring!!! So I'm freaking out, he leaves for work. I put Claire down for a late nap and I go back outside and search the snow and the trash, I then get the trash bag I threw in there and search through that- nothing! Then I remembered we parked in front of other stores so maybe someone might have turned them into one of those stores. So after Claire wakes up we get in the car and head over to check the other stores out. As I am turning into the parking lot I can hear the sound of keys sliding around... I found the keys they were in the car the whole time! 3 hours of stressing out how we were going to replace all the keys on his key ring.
Can you see the keys in this picture??

No you can't because our dashboard has a very high edge to it so every time we looked in the car we didn't bother to look on the dashboard. I couldn't believe it, but was very relieved to have found them

Snow is back

While at my moms house today the snow started coming down again but in huge flakes! It was amazing, so I walked out on her back step and looked up and it was like you could pick and choose which snow flake you wanted to catch, so cool. Claire came out too and got to catch her first snowflakes... she even tried to eat a couple.

Zoo Day

On Jason's day off last week, we knew we wanted to get out of the house and of course neither of us could decide on where to go so I finally made the decision that we were going to the zoo. None of us had ever been to the Hogle Zoo before so it was an adventure for all of us. We got there and I think there might have been 10 other cars in the parking lot (crowds were not a problem today) It was chilly, but at least we were out of the inversion gunk for a few hours.

Claire LOVED the monkeys... these spider monkeys were so fun to watch, this one came up to the window to pay Claire a little visit.

here's lots of the other animals we saw As you can see no one was at the zoo today so we let Claire wander out of her stroller and she had so much fun walking/running by herself.

I loved this picture of the monkey, (most of the animals were inside as it was too cold for them to be outside so lots of my pictures were taken from behind glass) He looks like he is saying "Get me outta here!"
Claire doing her pose in front of the aligators

This monkey was so fun to watch, he would swing and fall down right in front of Claire, "Oh no, monkey fall down" She is still talking about this silly monkey.
Claire and I and the big gorilla
Look what I found at the zoo... a hidden Mickey in the cactus!
(I miss Disneyland)
And finally Claire admiring her reflection on the ball at the entrance of the zoo.
We had a fun day and I'm glad we were finally able to go to the zoo and not have to fight crowds or hot weather.

Bowling

Jason's work had a very late Christmas Party this year, it was at a local bowling alley so Claire and I decided we would go with him. They had lots of yummy food in the back & then we went and started our game. This was Claire's first time and since she likes to bowl on the Wii I knew she would like this. Here's a short video of her first roll...

(I know it wasn't exactly a strike but she likes saying that word)

I loved her little bowling shoes.

This is how Claire ended up I think after the 5th frame, 3 days without a nap will do that to a 1 1/2 year old. She found this table quite comfy

Debbie's Birthday

Debra turned 31 on the 17th and we had tickets to go to the Draper Temple open house. We all loaded the buses to go up there and they had the walk way tented very nicely, especially nice for when it snows ! The temple was beautiful of course. But the tent didn't allow for any shots of the temple, so the only one I got was when we were back on the bus. Claire was excited to ride the "school bus"
We got back to the parking lot and we all had to change clothes, the girls got to sit in Matthew's car where it was warm and watch a movie while we all got ready.
We met up with Aunt Cheryl and Uncle George and went to Gardners Village and had lunch

We then went and did some shopping and the girls climbed in the sleigh which made for a nice picture.... although they weren't supposed to be in it as the sign we saw after we took this picture to not climb in the sleigh, oops!
I then was in the mood for brownies and ice cream so we decided to head back to moms house and make it at home, very delicious! It was a nice, fun, cold, long day. We're glad we were able to celebrate with Debra ALL day!
Happy Birthday!

Legos

I saw this on the news tonight but had to see more pictures... Legoland has made a "small" version of the inauguration. So cute and very creative, here's some of my favorite pictures. (click to make it bigger) That would be a great job just to play with legos all day!

Dinosaurs

One day last week we decided to use our annual pass to Thanksgiving Point and let Claire run around at the dinosaur museum... here's Jason explaing what type of dinosaur this was to Claire..... ummm just kidding

Most people get pictures of kids sitting on this little dino, NOT Claire she had to inspect every inch of this guy and decided she was going to sit on him
This shark scares the beegeebees (pronunciation.. B-G-B's) out of me, but Claire went right up to it. (When I used to take her here by myself I would quickly bypass this room and not look in that direction.)
She had fun and it was nice to be able to let her play where it was warm

Toby

Debra took these pictures a while ago and I thought I'd share them. Claire is riding our rocking horse "Toby" who resides in my moms basement. I don't know where he came from or how long we have had him (I know he is older than I am) He has survived lots of kids and I'm glad Claire has the chance to enjoy him also

Nativity time with Claire

I was putting away the Little People Nativiy set when Claire starts naming all the people as I was putting them in the box, I knew I had to get a video of her.
(It's so hard to video now as she always wants to see what I am doing behind the camera, so this was the best I could do)

Happy New Year to you!

We went to my moms house for some dinner/snacks and a little Wii time. This is how Claire came up the stairs dressed as, I think Abby and Brenna had something to do with it. Here's A C B (dang it they were sitting in the wrong order) eating dinner
Then on Friday we went up to Park City (or as Claire calls it Par Kity) with Sandie and Matthew, we had lunch & walked a little ways up Main street.
She loved watching the Christmas displays in the window
If anyone is in need of some shoes I know where you can find a wide assortment, just stop by the Marriott hotel on your way to Main Street!!!
We then went on up to Olympic Park, and YES this is what Claire's face would look like if she was actually on a bobsled going 80 mph!
Just a pretty picture of the bobsled track as we were leaving and it was starting to snow.
