Lefty?

Lately we've noticed Claire doing lots of things with her left hand, which leads to the following story...
Today we were out running errands and Jason turned around in the car and gave Claire a cheerio and she grabbed it with her left hand and Jason immediately says,
"I think she's gonna be a lefty, oh no my golf clubs are right handed.... left handed golf clubs are really expensive!"

Hmmm can you tell what he wants his little girl to do when she gets older?

Tulip Festival

Claire and I ventured up to Thanksgiving Point to meet Amy and Seth. Despite the storm that went through last night we figured today was the day to go. The blooms were finally up to 40%, so we got the kids bundled up and headed through the gardens.
Here's Seth and Claire not looking at the camera because the sun was so bright
Pretty pretty tulips!
Claire is enjoying some of Seth's cheezits while in the Secret Garden
On our way back to the building the freezing wind started up again, so we quickly ran over to see the waterfalls, took a picture, then headed up the hill with frozen snow pellets hitting us in the face. Claire really is inside her stroller- I am grateful for a full cover so she was sort of protected.
Once we left the building to head back to our cars the snow started, but here's one last shot of pretty flowers before we left.
This was funny, Amy put Seth in the car while she put her stroller away. Seth then decided he would drive home so he hoped in the front seat and even started buckling his seat belt. You can see my reflection in the mirror trying to get him to grab the wheel.

It was a great day (COLD but great) I'm glad we have our passes to this place so we can see all the pretty flowers throughout this season!
** While I have been writing this the snow has been coming down then stopping and the sun would come out again... now its snowing with the sun out. What's today date April 24th!!! Where's the nice Spring like weather? Gotta love Utah's Spring

1 year doctor visit

Claire had her 1 year check up with Dr. Johnson today. It also happened to be Jason's day off which I was so grateful for him to come with me since I knew shots were involved today.
**Claire's 1 year stats are- she weighs in at 23 lbs 15 oz (85%) and 31" tall (95%).

she officially has 4 teeth that have broken through, with at least 3 more coming in (that I can see) She knows some signs like- more, please, thank you and all done. She loves being able to walk and sometimes that's all she does during the day, its like she doesn't know how to stop yet. She likes dancing, playing catch and loves to be outside. She knows when we put her jacket on it's time to go bye bye, so she'll start waving and if we're still not quite ready to walk out the door she gets a little temper.

Dr. Johnson had an intern working with him today so he came in and saw Claire, and she did awesome through all the poking and checking to see how she was doing. Then he says ok I'll be right back with Dr. Johnson...
Anyways Dr. Johnson comes in and proceeds to do the exact same check up , and Claire figured that she was nice enough the first time now she wasn't gonna be so happy. Oh well she survived 2 check ups, but now on to the shots. The nice nurse comes in and says she needs 3 shots today, Claire was drinking her bottle so I decided to let her keep it while the shots were given (in hopes it would ease the pain) I was wrong, once the first shot went in I looked at Claire's face, and I had never seen her hold her breath for so long, then came the long scream. I had never really cried before when they gave her shots but this time I got all teary because she was now old enough to know that we brought her here! Oh it was painful but she did surviveLater on tonight I changed Claire's diaper and she immediatley felt the bandaids, and started pulling them off (ouch!) So here she is playing with the last one , its so cute- pink camo. 3 seconds later she had that one off too!
Just have to throw this one in- usually when the doorbell rings we go over and look through the peep hole, recently I have caught Claire going to the door and doing the same thing we do... she just needs to grow a little bit more to see through the hole.

April Birthday party

We got together at the Harrisons house for the April birthday party, it just so happened to be all girls this month. We have Claire, Wendy, Alisa and Bailey. Always a fun time and good food! Claire loves her new sunglasses that she got from Aunt RuthAnn and Uncle Dennis, they keep her very entertained

Disney Rings

I just saw this article on MSN's homepage and it reminded me about something that happened to me at Disneyland.

It was just after Jason and I got engaged and we were at Disneyland one afternoon (rare, I know), and we were on the train and it had just stopped at Main St. station. I had a habit of twiddling with my new ring... so while we were waiting for more people to get on the train my ring suddenly popped off my finger and went over the side of the train and landed in the rocks... AHHH! I freaked out and told Jason, but before we knew it the guy in front of us must have heard me and jumped over the side of the train, and somehow found my ring in a matter of no time. Man did he save my life, I was so grateful to him! So THANK YOU to whoever you were.
Lesson learned I no longer play with my rings!

Do you think you could find a silver ring in all these white, gray, and silver rocks without any Disney employees noticing you down there?

Gardner Village

Saturday afternoon we went up to Gardner Village with my mom. We had a yummy dinner at Archibalds. I love this picture of Grandma and Claire. At the end of our dinner Claire got a case of the giggles, she thought it was so funny to put her spoon into one of our bowls on the table. She entertained a man behind my mom for a few minutes, she could not stop giggling.

Jay and I at dinner

It was SUPER windy outside and dusty, but it started to calm down a little as we left dinner so we went shopping for a few minutes. You can see Claire's hair blowing in the wind, and her lips all puckered up.

Claire making her famous face that she likes right now while sitting in a very comfy sued chair.

Grandma and Claire and the pretty flowers that started blooming.

A day with Abby and Brenna

Last Wednesday we switched kids with Debra, she took Claire for the afternoon while Jason and I took Abby and Brenna up to Boondocks. We had planned on going miniature golfing but it was a very cold and windy day and they only had outdoor courses so we settled on playing games inside instead. These girls are so funny, I told them to go stand by this sign so I could get a picture and they immediatley smile and hug- their mother has them trained very well.
They had lots of fun playing different games and winning tickets
They also have this huge play area with lots of things to climb up and then slide down, these slides were fast too, the picture below shows them sliding down on their backs head first, there so crazy!

Redeeming their tickets... 481! (Thanks Uncle Jason)

Here's their bag of loot!

We stopped and got a drink before heading out, the girls got tops as part of their prizes so they are spinning on the table, I was surprised they were only 10 tickets and they worked great.
We had a fun day but still owe them a trip to play miniature golf.

I do believe this will be El Pollo Loco! Yum, can't wait! It's in a great location right on State St. in Lehi, just in front of Lowes

Uh Oh

So this is what happens when Mom turns her back for a minute to check her email!
I forget that she is growing and she can reach for things off the table

Family fun

Part of Jason's family came up for Claire's birthday party- they were only here for a short time so we tried to get as much in as we possibly could. Here's a picture of all of us just after the party ended. (L-R, Grandma Patti, Jason, Brittney, Aunt Kat, Claire, Janna, Auntie Ree, and Uncle Edgar)
After the party we drove up Hobble Creek canyon, then went on to Bridalveil Falls, then back down to The Riverwoods and did a little shopping.
I LOVE this picture! They were all trying to see who Claire would walk to, it was really funny. They started breaking out the jewelry, phones and treats to get her to come to them. It was a site to see! They did this a few times, I'm sure people thought we were crazy!
We then went on to Los Hermanos in Lindon for dinner that night. Then went back to our place and put together some of Claire's toys that she got for her birthday
Sunday morning we met them at their hotel, had some breakfast then went up to Cabella's. Claire made friends with Uncle Edgar.

Claire riding on the rocking bear
Outside of Cabella's- Jason, Grandma Patti and Claire
We then made our way up to Park City, and went to the Olympic Park.
Here's Brittney and Jason showing there skills (or lack of skills) on the skis.
We then went outside and took a ton of pictures with the snow. It was quite warm up here so it was a perfect day to go.

Look at that bright blue sky!
Claire loved walking around out there, but she wouldn't go near that snow
Back inside the museum, Edgar carried the torch! This look on Maria's face is priceless, she's trying to lift the curling ball. That thing is heavy
We then went down and had a YUMMY lunch at Ruby Tuesday's walked around the outlets for a little while, then made our way back down to SLC. We were in 2 different cars so I borrowed my moms walkie talkies so we could chat between cars- came in very handy. I then gave them a quick driving tour through SLC then we stopped at Little America for some dessert, then it was time for them to head to the airport for their flight home. We were so sad to see them go, but we did have a GREAT time while they were here, can't wait till they come back up to visit. As soon as we left them Claire crashed in the car, she did so good on all of our adventures.

Polka Dot Birthday party

We celebrated Claire's birthday on Saturday with a polka dot party in Grandma Diane's backyard. Mother Nature cooperated with us, since it snowed the day before we were a little scared, but the weather was great! Jason's family arrived from California the night before- we were so glad they were able to come up. We had lots of friends and family over too.

Here's the invite I made

And the star of the party, well besides Claire... the cupcake cake. I was so worried this wasn't going to turn out. But it ended up alright since I am not an expert cake decorator.
Here's our lovely food spread, we had yummy chicken salad sandwiches, fruit, chips & dip, veggies.

Abby and Brenna playing with some of the balls (polka dots) before the party started.

Some of the decorations- I made a polka dot Happy Birthday sign.

Debra cleared everything off of the fridge and put pictures up of Claire, the 5 pictures on the left are of me on my first birthday, do you think we look alike? (click the picture to see it larger) Ahhh Jennie is so nice, she sat at the kids table with my nieces

Enjoying the party- notice all the polka dots... he he

I know this is not a clear picture but it shows the kids enjoying the bounce house

Birthday cupcake time- I found this "1" sparkler at a party store, and it actually worked, I loved it. We also had cupcakes with polka dot sprinkles on them.

As you can see Claire didn't like her cupcake either, I made hers with a very very thin layer of frosting and she still wanted her fingers clean

Present time

California family bought their presents to Claire when they got up here so they didn't have to carry them on the plane. Claire was with them and I guess the rule was whatever Claire touched they bought... she got lots of fun things.

You can't really tell from this picture but Claire is doing a little dance because this Dora bike plays music so she was dancing to it.

She loves her little baby doll

Aunt Ruth Ann did a great job of displaying all of Claire's clothes

Here's Auntie Ree trying to get the birthday girl to take a little nap, it didn't work but she got some good snuggle time in with her.

The yummy chocolate chip cookies that Debra made for the parents to take home, notice the M&M's (polka dots)

Abby, Samantha, and Brenna showing the goodie bags that the kids got. They had Easter eggs filled with candy inside since Claire was born on Easter last year. And a bag of Yo-Go's (little yogurt cover fruit balls- more polka dots)

Here's a shot of Jason and out friend Jennie playing with the girls in the bounce house.

Go Jay, White men CAN jump!

Claire loves this walking thing, so Auntie Ree went walking with her all around Grandma's house.

Hmmm can you tell where they are from??? California. They thought it was cold so they are all bundled up and even are taking a little nap at the end of the party.

Claire got inside this car and loved it- she was really driving.

Brenna, Claire and Abby all matched in the cute polka dot shirts

And here's the 3 of us after the party was over (don't mind my obnoxious polka dot shirt- I had to buy it for the party)

It sure was a great day, thank you to all those family and friends who shared the day with Claire. We can't believe we have a 1 year old now!!!
