Happy TLAPD!!!

Ahoy, me buckos! September 19th is...

TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!

I first heard of this great day a few years back on a radio station in California (http://kroq.com/ It was all one of the DJ's at the time could talk about, his name was "Ralph the new guy" and he did the entertainment report, every report that he did leading up to this day always included something to do with Pirates, it was the funniest thing and very entertaining to listen to when the day finally arrived. I remember he asked people to call in and try to sing the lyrics of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song at Disneyland to win prizes... it's a very hard song and was quite funny.

So in honor of this day here is the link to the official website http://www.talklikeapirate.com/ it has lots of fun stuff to do if you have some free time. You can create your own pirate name, my new pirate name is Slashin' Hillary Smythe and Jason is Sweatin' Walt Slasher. Or maybe its time to go watch our favorite pirate of them all... Cap'n Jack Sparrow!

Here's some silly pirate jokes to get you in the mood...

What is a pirate's favorite tv show?

Eeeee Aaarrrrrr

What does a pirate say when he has a heart attack?

Arrr! Me Heartie!!

What's Captain Hook's favorite store?

The Secondhand shop!

How many pirate jokes are lame?

Most of them Arrrrrrrr!

Keep on Rolling...

She finally rolled over!!
Claire has been so close to rolling over for a few days now, so tonight we were all in the living room and Claire was on her blanket so I set Jason's water bottle (that she had been eyeing all night) to the side of her just out of her reach and it took her about 3 times before she finally made it over! But she did it, so I quickly grabbed the camera and caught her doing it on film. Woo Hoo another big accomplishment in Claire's life!

Stroller time

We finally broke down and bought Claire a new smaller stroller...Claire loves it (and so do we!) We have been thinking about buying one for our trip to Disneyland and we finally decided to go for it. It had all the right features we wanted- the seat reclines, sun visor, basket, folds down easily and the right height. So while we were at Babies R Us I saw they had a stroller bag attachment, so we bought it because we thought it would come in handy for extra toys. When I got it home I didn't like it because it was all netting & see through, so I thought I can make a simple bag to go on the back of stroller. Anyways I ended up telling my mom about it so she said she would make something for it. So today Claire and I went down to her house, went looking through her extra fabric- found some cute things we were going to piece together, got back upstairs to measure the stroller and mom took one of the famous "BYU $2.99 bags" and held it up to the back of the stoller, and low and behold it fit the perfect width.

So here is the new bag attachment my mom made, she just cut off the straps, shortened them & then attached the straps to the other sides of the bag so they now can slip right over the handles and makes it much easier to get things in and out of the bag, and I still have the lower basket for more storage! (Jay , Claire and I went for a walk today with the storller and it worked out so nice)
Then she also attached this cute ribbon to the side of the stroller so we can attach some of Claire's toys too it and they wont fall to the ground. All I have to say is "MY MOTHER IS AMAZING" (thanks again Mom)
P.S. And NO Claire will not be matching her stroller everytime it just so happened that I put her in this brown out fit today (my friend bought it for her a long time ago and she finally fits into it, so she had to wear it before the weather starts turning cooler)

New Game

Our friends Randy and Jennie introduced us to this FUN new game- it's called Settlers of Catan. (Randys brother sells alot of games on his website, I think its www.theboardgameguy.com ) I have heard alot about it so we finally had time to play it last week. It took a while to figure it out but once we did it was alot of fun- it takes alot of strategy. They came over again last night (we made some yummy foil dinners) and played it. We are so grateful that they already knew how to play because reading those instructions on your own would be impossible. There are still some rules that I would like to change but I guess I can live with them. If you ever have the chance to play it please do I promise it will be worth your while. So here's Jason, Randy and Jennie playing the game-- notice the one cookie left on the plate, no one would eat it... oh and our paper chain in the background, that's our countdown for California (Jason said he is going to be very sad when it is gone because that means there is nothing left to look forward to)

Another Peter B concert

Well you can tell we just love Peter Breinholt concerts, they are always so much fun! This year he was celebrating his 10th anniversary with Sundance. So Debra and I bought our tickets for the grass seats, and Jason so kindly agreed to watch Claire for the evening (thanks). We decided to meet down at Riverwoods and then carpool together up to Sundance... well when I got to the parking lot I started loading my blankets and sweatshirt into Debra's car I somehow locked the doors of my car and gently shut my front door... and my keys and purse were still inside!!! The door wasn't all the way shut- just enough for the latch to catch and it was LOCKED! Anyways I had to call Jason to come and unlock the doors (luckily our friends that live in the next buliding were home so they could watch Claire, since I had the carseat )

Okay so now we are off to Sundance, we didn't know if we were allowed to bring food in or where to park, so we get there and the guys are guiding us to go park up this hill, so we parked the car then had to wait in line for a tram to come get us and bring us back down to where we just were! We were then just following the crowd of people who were also carrying blankets up a HUGE hill. Now there were 2 huge hills we had to walk up, and let me tell you high altitude and asthma don't work together in my opinion. When we reached the top I had to stop to get a rock out of my shoe, and just then this nice white van pulls up and people jump out! Where the heck was that line? Oh well, it was not a fun walk and I was very grateful when we found seats and were able to sit down and enjoy the beauty of Sundance. We looked at the people around us and they had their pillows and comforters and Cafe Rio, and Hickory Kist sandwhiches. Next concert up here we will remember all these things that we can bring and we will definatley be in line for the lovely van to take us up that hill.

Here's Debbie and I (the groupies) Debra found us a nice spot on the grass that we were able to lean on the rocks behind us. There was this couple sitting next to us who I thought looked very familiar so Debra asked them to take a picture of us and then we started chatting with them and come to find out they were the same people we sat by at the last Peter Breinholt concert in the park, and they are also in Sandie's ward. Small world!!

This was the mass exodus of people leaving, we waited a few minutes to let the crowds clear out then began our trek down the "ski slope" We're just very grateful that we got to walk downhill this time.

During the concert Peter was talking about how he and the piano player (I can't think of his name) just celebrated their 20th reunion from High School... so as a tribute to the class 0f '87 this is what he came up with. (If you have 5 minutes to spare you might enjoy this, and don't mind Debra laughing and screaming next to me she didn't know I was videoing this part)
Here's the link also, the video has been acting funny and only works when it wants to

5 months old

Claire turned 5 months old yesterday, so since Jason had the car with the car seat and the stroller at work. Claire and I were definatley stuck at home, so I decided to take some pictures of her. Not a good idea when you are by yourself and when she is kinda cranky... but here are a couple shots that worked out.

She is still such a happy baby, sleeping most all nights, loves to do her spitting fits every now and then, BIG smiles when her daddy comes home from work, she hasn't rolled over yet but so close, tried to sit up whenever we put her in her bouncer or carseat. We will start her on rice cereal when we get back from our California trip, that will be a fun time, since right now she has to eat when we eat or she will start screaming, because she can see our food.
We love her sooo much! Happy 5 months Claire!

Who does she look like?

My sister told me about this site so I thought I would finally go and try it out. It was hard finding a picture of Jay and I that would work, since now all we take pictures of is Claire. I think it's pretty accurate. She still has my dimples for sure!

4 Wheeling

We went out to my Uncle Dennis and Aunt Ruth Ann's property today to go on the 4 wheelers. We had so much fun, & the weather was nice (compared to California right now -107!!!) We all took turns, and of course Abby and Brenna wanted to go on them with everyone! We BBQ'd some hot dogs and roasted some marshmallows. Claire had fun seeing some family and even got to take a little nap on their bed in the trailer. She didn't get to ride the 4 wheelers this time but maybe in a few years she'll be asking to go just like Abby and Brenna. Here's some pictures of today's events.
THANKS Harrison's for letting us invade your beautiful land!

BYU Blues...

Jason came home early from work today and when he walked in I just glanced at him real quick, and I thought someone had punched him... but come to find out today was BYU's first game... so Macey's was having a huge Tailgate party in there parking lot and they wanted all their employees to wear either a paw print or a "Y" on their faces. Jay choose the paw print as you can see in this picture. Those of you who know Jason, know that BYU is not his most favorite team and especially he doesn't like this time of year because the STUDENTS ARE BACK!!! Macey's has a huge sale to welcome them back to school, so it makes Jason's job much harder. The sale lasts for 1 more week, so hopefully he will survive it all.
(He's also hoping he wont have to wear the paint on his face for every BYU home game)
